Support for permanent protection of Bristol Bay from threats like the proposed Pebble Mine is as diverse and far reaching as the fishermen whose livelihoods depend on Bristol Bay’s salmon-rich waters.

Bristol Bay’s captains and crew hail from every US state and beyond. The men and women who work to process Bristol Bay’s salmon, small businesses which keep the boats running, fishermen fed, salmon chilled, and markets supplied with Bristol Bay sockeye salmon are a network of support for Bristol Bay which has helped sustain this fishery for more than 135 years. Following the example of the Yup’ik, Dena’ina, and Alutiiq people of Bristol Bay to always leave enough salmon in the rivers to spawn and ensure this essential habitat remains intact to support a sustainable life cycle, Bristol Bay’s commercial fishing industry is a beacon for sustainable fishery management and habitat conservation.

We are grateful to our supporters from coast to coast who united over a decade ago to form CFBB and continue to tirelessly advocate for permanent protections for Bristol Bay.
